Tony, and wife Janet, live in Vermilion,
Ohio, located west of Cleveland on Lake Erie's shore. Vermilion
is a harbor for boaters and vacationers, so eventually the town's
nickname "Harbourtown" emerged, thus the origin of the
band's name, derived from the originator of our band.
Tony is a transplanted Tennessee mountain
boy and has retained his fine heritage. He has never lost sight
of where his music came from or the direction it is going. In the
true bluegrass tradition, Harbourtown uses all acoustical instruments.
The band members draw from the old standard songs, adopt the best
of current music, and add their own original material. When they
put a show together, it seems like they can reach into your heart
and convey in words and music just what you fell inside, but can't
quite express yourself. They upgrade their program regularly, adding
different material to maintain freshness, but also filling requests
for old favorites.
Even with their numerous supporters,
the band members have never become complacent so that they neglect
their practice sessions, or smug so that they ignore what the audience
likes. Harbourtown is definitely not a rubber stamp band. They have
created and fine tuned their own particular sound. They are known
for excellent talent, neatly dressed appearance, honestly and fairness,
and being family oriented. They have a wonderful sense of humor,
that occasionally spills over into surprises to delight their audience.
They're booking in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky,
Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Canada, with return engagements
offered, are testimony to the caliber of this outstanding band.
