"Faces", as they often refer to themselves, places strong
emphasis on tradition while unleashing a cutting edge style that
is giving notice to the music industry.
"Faces" performs tried and true Bluegrass standards from
Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers while instilling a Bluegrass
sound in contemporary music from artists such as the Beatles, the
Monkeys and Chuck Berry.
"Faces" is receiving critical acclaim and international airplay
for their CDs 'RIDE', which features original material, and
'RELEASE THE HOUNDS' showcasing the one and only Suzanne
Thomas and Ohio Country Music Hall Of Fame fiddler TEX REGAN.
"FACES MADE FOR RADIO" is
a North Central Ohio based bluegrass band consisting of Steve Baxter,
Bobby Brooks, Jimmy Haynes, Mike Martin, Kerri Lehman and Gary Fossaceca.
"Faces", as they often refer to themselves, is making
their mark on the regional bluegrass circuit. They have received
critical acclamation and international airplay for their debut CD
"RIDE", which features original material, and their latest
recording effort, "Ashland", is getting rave reviews and
commercial air play.
Steve Baxter plays guitar and handles both lead and harmony vocals
for Faces. Steve has emerged as a rock solid rhythm guitarist with
a powerful and soulful voice. Steve doesn't just sing a song; he
feels it. Steve has also staked his place as a proficient songwriter,
drawing from his own live experiences and observations.
Kerri Lehman plays bass and provides lead and harmony vocals. Kerri
is an amazingly talented multi-instrumentalist who brings with her
over twenty years of experience. Kerri has played with such notable
bands as Northwest Territory, The Bluegrass Mountaineers, Frank
Wakefield and toured with the one and only Jimmy Martin. Kerri's
voice is one of the most powerful, versatile and angelic in bluegrass.
Jimmy Haynes provides mandolin and
baritone vocals. Jimmy is an established musician who has been playing
music for 36 years. One listen and you will agree the he is, with
out a doubt, the most innovative rafter shaking mandolin player
you will ever have the pleasure of hearing.
Bobby Brooks brings with him almost
thirty years of experience. Bob is well know for his involvement
in several area rock bands as well as The Bluegrass Express, a 1970's
era, north central Ohio bluegrass band. Bob plays Dobro in FACES,
and has contributed powerful original songs to our repertoire.
Mike Martin plays lead guitar for
FACES and is a welcomed addition to our band. Mike has established
himself as an innovative player and strong songwriter, having been
involved in bluegrass for the last 25 years. Mike's guitar style
can only be described as jaw dropping, innovative and, to say the
least, hard driving.
Gary Fossaceca is the band's banjo player and business manager.
Gary provides a solid, driving, no nonsense approach to the banjo
and is emerging as a song writer, contributing to the band repertoire.
