Clarence Kelly
was the lead singer for BLUEGRASS LEGENDS and has one great bluegrass
band with Nu-Cut Road. They have appeared for Robert White at Perrysburg
and Sandusky; at the Country Stage in Nova, Ohio and will be at
the Goldwing Express Festival in Leslie, Michigan this year. You
can see them at the Commodore's Place in the Fall!
The band consists of Clarence Kelly on mandolin. He is a gifted
songwriter and has the ability to take you with him into his vision.
Clarence also plays guitar and comes from a musical background.
His father Sanford Kelly was a very gifted old time fiddler who
taught him not to compromise the music of his ancestors. Clarence
has played the Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky area as a lead singer
with various bands. He has a talent for making you laugh or cry
through the deliveries of a song.
Carlos Brock
a rhythm, lead guitar and vocalist, has the traditional sound
needed for singing with his own style that captivates the audience.
Carlos has been an impressive force in Bluegrass Music since the
50's when he performed with the Brock Family. He then went with
Bill Monroe as a "Bluegrass Boy". White with Monroe
be performed on the Grand Ole Opry. When Bill Monroe died, Carlos
was one of the people who sang at the funeral. Carlos had to leave
Monroe to serve in the army. In 1953 he was on the first recording
with Sonny Osborne. He was an original member of the "Country
Partners" and has recorded for RCA Victor.
Charlie Hoskins
is the banjo player for the band having moved from Bass when Noah
Crase left the band. Charlie has a long history with Bluegrass
Music, having played with Earl Taylor and many others. Charlie
and wife Wilma had a band for many years. Charlie has a gift for
making you laugh while enjoying his musical talents.
Ralph Smith
pays guitar for the band. He is well known in the industry. Ralph
played with Ralph Stanley, Dave Evans, the Bluegrass Strangers
and others. Ralph grew up with Keith Whitley and cousin Wayne
Lewis. Ralph has a driving style that keeps the music on an even
keel. He is also a good vocalist for the group.
The newest
member of the group is. JJ Arnold. JJ is from Dayton Ohio, the
only member that is not a native Kentuckian. JJ plays bass and
keeps the rhythm and drive going steady. JJ played in country
bands for several years. He is no stranger to Bluegrass and is
an asset to the group.
Nu Cut Road is
a very entertaining band that will make you laugh and cry in the
same instant. These guys are energy from start to finish and will
be an asset to any festival or show.
