Honey Creek Grass has been
together for only a couple of years now, but donÕt let that
short time fool you.Ê While not limiting themselves to traditional
bluegrass, I believe you canÕt help but hear the tradition in
this group. They are a group of close friends that hope friendship
shows through their music.
Troy Bailey Sr.
Troy was born in Dante, Virginia, but now resides in southern
Ashland County. Whether it is electric or doghouse; he plays
some of the best bass that can be found.Ê Along with his bass
picking, he also provides his singing talents for the band.
TroyÕs thirty plus years of experience shows throughout his
picking and singing, as well as providing good advice for the
rest of the group to follow.
Albert Newsome
Al was born in Inez, Kentucky and now resides in Mansfield,
Ohio. When it comes to that ole mountain music sound, you wonÕt
find anyone that sings it from the heart like Al. He plays rhythm
guitar, as well as vocals for the group.Ê Some of his influences
include his brother, George Newsome, Stanley Brothers, Flatt
& Scruggs, and many others.
Shawn Mahoney
Shawn was born in Medina, Ohio and now resides in Loudonville,
Ohio. His powerful voice and guitar playing will really catch
your attention. Shawn also shows his passion for music in his
song writing. His influences are many, ranging from The Osborne
Brothers and Larry Sparks to the Seldom Seen.
Rick Martin
Rick was born in Summersville, West Virginia and now makes his
home in Ashland, Ohio. He grew up listening to Flatt & Scruggs
and the Stanley Brothers. Rick can play just about anything
that has strings on it, but provides his musical talents for
the band through the dobro.
Greg Bailey
Greg was born in Ashland, Ohio and still makes his home there.
Greg is the son of Troy Bailey Sr. His traditional approach
to his banjo playing really puts the drive into the groupÕs
music. His main influences are Earl Scruggs and J.D. Crowe.Ê
